At Travis & Travis, we handle a wide variety of civil litigation matters for numerous individual and entity clients, including matters in the following areas:
  • Business
  • Real Estate
  • Employment
  • Professional Liability
  • Legal Malpractice
  • International Family Law
On a selective basis, we handle other types of cases, including personal injury defense, contested partnership dissolutions, and asbestos claims resolution and administration.

We work with clients in all phases of litigation: before, during, and after trial; through all levels of appeal; and through post-judgment enforcement and satisfaction.

We often provide local assistance to out-of-town attorneys with cases pending in Bay Area state and federal courts.

We welcome calls from potential clients as soon as they have a dispute, because early intervention often leads to a negotiated resolution that avoids litigation entirely, which experiences shows is usually in the client’s best interest in terms of both cost and result.

If early intervention does not resolve the dispute, then the work done preparing the client’s case for a possible early settlement lays the foundation for the most effective litigation effort.  As a result, whether or not the case is resolved before formal litigation, it always makes sense for a client to contact us before an urgent need to sue or respond to a suit arises.

We also welcome calls from potential clients who have existing litigation, and have been engaged to substitute into numerous ongoing cases.  There are times when a second opinion proves critical, whether the advice is to stay the course or to change directions in some fashion.

Examples of business litigation matters our attorneys have handled include:

  • Representing an asbestos insulation installer asserting indemnity claims against an asbestos insulation manufacturer in state and federal trial and appellate courts.
  • Representing an asbestos defendant confronted with thousands of individual personal injury lawsuits, including negotiation of a matrix-based claims resolution program that involved design and implementation of a novel and uniquely efficient online claims facility.
  • Representing mortgage brokers defending against fraud claims asserted by lending institutions.
  • Defending international hedge fund entities against fraud claims asserted by another hedge fund, a case involving parties and transactions on both sides of the Pacific and also on both sides of the Atlantic.
  • Representing individuals in a complicated dispute with their former partners involving more than a decade’s worth of transactions occurring in at least three different continents.
  • Asserting and defending complicated securities fraud claims.
  • Representing attorneys or law firms involved in contentious law firm break-ups.
Our attorneys have represented buyers, sellers, brokers, lessors, lessees, architects, lenders, borrowers, and other participants involved in diverse and often complicated real estate disputes.

Employment matters handled by the firm have included defense and prosecution of claims for sexual harassment, discrimination, and wrongful termination, as well as wage disputes.

The firm has represented plaintiffs with claims against professionals, including investment advisors, accountants, brokers, and attorneys, and has also successfully defended against professional liability claims.

International family law involves special considerations, and Travis & Travis has experience representing the left-behind spouse asserting property and other claims against the absent spouse.
